812 East 231st Street – Bronx, NY
Description:
Project Team
Design of a 3-story 19,000 SF building with (15) fifteen affordable rental units. Amenities include laundry room, bike room and parking garage. The units are laid out to provide cross-ventilation through corner windows. The funding for this project included Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) / Green Financing Initiative and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) / Low-rise Multi-family Performance program which were used to implement an energy reduction plan and stratagies for cost-effective construction. This was the first use of Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) for exterior walls in the Bronx. The use of ICF helped bring the hard cost under budget, which enabled funds to be switched to upgrading the some of the finish materials.
